EDUCATION

EDUCATION

The Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia stipulates that primary education is compulsory and free for all. The Primary education is regulated by the Law on Primary Education, whereas the Law by itself and its bylaws stipulate that teaching and other forms of educational work in schools are financed with funds from the Budget of the Republic of North Macedonia. After the decentralization, the founders of the primary schools are the municipalities, but there are also state primary schools established by the Government.

The main ZMAI’s commitment is to promote and advocate balanced development of the education and reduction of the difference in the level of development of primary schools throughout the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, regardless of their geographical, social, ethnic or religious character. To this end, we are working hard with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Foundation Open Society Macedonia, UNICEF, the World Bank and other relevant partners to provide quality public policies that will address the demands and needs of all stakeholders in the educational process.
