ABOUT ZMAI

The Association for Research and Analysis has been established and has been operating since 2014. Our mission is to serve as a central platform for supporting economic development through innovative solutions, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of national and international partnerships. Our vision is to position ourselves as a global catalyst and supporter of economic growth by creating cutting-edge solutions, tools, and knowledge exchange platforms.
The overarching goal of ZMAI is to improve society by creating and promoting effective public policies for good governance in the public and business sectors, enhancing the quality of education, fostering a research-oriented spirit among the youth, and advancing the level of economic and financial knowledge.
The specific objectives of the Association include:
• Forming and strengthening partnerships and collaborations with local, national, and international organizations, businesses, and governments to pool knowledge, expertise, and resources for advancing economic development initiatives.
• Generating analyses, disseminating data, and sharing knowledge through research to inform the public about evidence-based best practices for economic development strategies.
• Enhancing financial education and literacy through programs that provide the necessary skills and knowledge for making financial decisions, efficient resource management, and participation in economic activities.
• Supporting and promoting environmentally sustainable practices within the framework of economic development initiatives, ensuring long-term ecological balance and sustainability.
• Promoting inclusive economic growth by reducing economic disparities and ensuring equal access for all, regardless of gender, ethnic background, or socio-economic origin.
• Creating and developing evidence-based public policies in the areas of good governance, public finances, fiscal policies, and other related fields.
• Stimulating, supporting, lobbying, managing, implementing, and developing the initiatives of young researchers and analysts.
• Encouraging and supporting the process of open data, transparency, and accountability of public institutions.

ORGANISATION

ZMAI was founded on October 20, 2014 by 7 (then) Masters of the Department of “Statistics for Business and Economics” at the Faculty of Economics – Skopje. The highest body of ZMAI is its Assembly, which consists of all its members who have equal voting rights in adoption of the decisions within the competence of the Assembly. ZMAI is represented by a President, who has a term of 4 years, and is governed by an Executive Board, composed of 5 members. The supervision over the work of ZMAI is performed by a Supervisory Board, composed of 2 members.

Assembly

The Assembly of ZMAI consists of all natural and legal persons – members of the Association. The Assembly meets as needed, but at least once a year. The Assembly decides validly if more than one half of the total number of members are present and decides by a majority vote of the present members. Currently, the Assembly of ZMAI consists of 20 members.

Executive Director

The Executive Director of ZMAI publicly represents the Association. The executive director is elected by the members of ZMAI and has a term of 4 years, with the right to one re-election after the end of the first term. He is elected and appointed by the Assembly, with a majority of votes from the total number of members. Currently, Viktor Mitevski is the Executive Director of ZMAI.

Executive Board

The Executive Board is an administrative body of the Assembly, and it consists of 5 members who come from among the Association’s members. The members of the Executive Board have a mandate of 2 years. The Executive Board is accountable to the Assembly and at least once a year it submits a report regarding ZMAI’s work. The President of ZMAI actively participates in the sessions of the Board, but has no right to vote. The Executive Board makes decisions by an absolute two-thirds majority. Currently, the Executive Board is composed of 5 members: Viktor Stojkoski, Ksenija Popovic Kocevski,  Nevena Spasovska, Natasha Angjeleska and Nena Manchev.

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board controls the implementation of ZMAI’s Statute provisions and controls the purposeful disposal of the funds and revenues of the Association. The Supervisory Board has 2 members, one of which is a member of ZMAI, and the other is an external person. Decisions are made by consensus and the supervisory board meets at least twice a year. Supervisory Board’s members have a term of 4 years, without the right to be re-elected. At the moment, an external member of the Supervisory Board is prof. Dr. Cane Mojanoski

OUR TEAM

Viktor Mitevski

Viktor Mitevski is a co-founder of ZMAI and is currently the Executive director of the Association. From 2015-16 he resided at Texas A&M University where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics. From 2017 to 2019 he works as a special advisor to the Minister of Finance. Victor is the recipient of the 2015 Fulbright Scholarship.

Nevena Spasovska

Nevena Spasovska is one of the founders and researcher at the Association for Research and Analysis ZMAI since its establishment in 2014. Works as a Software Support Specialist in the company MEDIAGENIX. It realizes its affinity for research work and statistical data processing by taking an active part in the project activities of ZMAI.

Goran Mojanoski

Goran Mojanoski is one of the founders of ZMAI Skopje. He has devoted most of his research career to primary education, investment, and the capital markets. His narrower area of specialization is the capital market. In 2023, Goran obtained the title of Doctor of Statistical Methods for Business and Economics.

Viktor Stojkoski

Viktor Stojkoski has been a researcher at ZMAI since 2015. In addition to his engagement in ZMAI, Viktor is employed as an assistant at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. He is the author of more than 30 scientific papers and has participated in more than 10 international scientific research projects. His research interest is to develop methods for data analysis. He is current postdoctoral scholar at Université de Toulouse.

Ksenija Popovikj

Ksenija Popovikj is a graduate economist at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje and has a master’s degree in economics in the field of statistics. She has six years of experience in the banking sector, of which five years as a sales manager where she is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and controlling the work. She is one of the founders and researchers of ZMAI.

Dragan Tevdovski

Dragan Tevdovski is a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. He is the winner of the award “Best Scientist at the University” St. Cyril and Methodius “in the field of social sciences in 2015, and was selected as one of the most inspiring professors in Macedonia. He was Minister of Finance (2017-2019), and currently he is an Advisor to the Executive Director at the IMF.

Nena Manchev

Nena Manchev is an external collaborator and researcher at ZMAI. She is currently working as a manager of programs for leadership development in Macedonia 2025. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics at UKIM. Her previous experience is in the Department for Administrative Support and Coordination in FITR, as well as Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance.

Faton Sulejmani

Faton Sulejmani has a master’s degree in economics in the field of statistical methods for business and economics. In 2020 he won the Chevening Scholarship, where he completed his studies at Imperial College London.

Elena Trpkovska

Elena Trpkovska has more than 20 years of professional experience in the preparation and monitoring of municipal budgets and state annual budgets acquired through the position of State Advisor for Fiscal Policy and Budgeting. She is involved as a Consultant – Economist and coordinator in projects to improve social services.

Branimir Jovanovikj

Branimir Jovanovikj is a WIIW economist and expert. His research interests focus on economic inequality, fiscal policy, and financial crises. He was an advisor to the Minister of Finance and a researcher at the Central Bank of the Republic of Macedonia between 2007 and 2015. He holds a Doctor of Science degree from Tor Vergata University.

Marija Kitanska Cvetkovska

Marija Kitanska Cvetkovska has 20 years of experience in the IT department at the Ministry of Finance. She has worked on the implementation and maintenance of a most of systems and portals supported by the Ministry of Finance. At ZMAI she works as a researcher and IT expert.

Maja Argirovska

Maja Argirovska is a graduate economist with 15 years of experience in public finance management. She has participated in key reform processes in the areas of budgets, social, education and health policies.

Jovana Avramovska

Jovana Avramovska graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. She has many years of experience as a journalist, and from 2017 to 2019 she is the PR of the Ministry of Finance. He is currently working in the field of communications and dealing with fake news and misinformation.

Elena Zafirovska

Elena Zafirovska graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje. She continues his master studies at the Faculty of Economics, studying human resource management. Works as an administrative assistant and protocol officer at the Ministry of Finance. She is involved in the ZMAI association as a researcher. Co-founder is on the first fundraising platform – “Let’s fund it!” and at the Start Up Academy.

Ana Jovanovska

Ana Jovanovska is a market research analyst, entrepreneur, WEF Global Shaper and economist. Its main focus is on conducting research in the field of labor market. She graduated and obtained her master’s degree at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. She has a professional career in the banking sector and in the field of accounting.

Marko Georgievski

Marko Georgievski is a graduate economist with 10 years of experience in doing business in the field of hospitality, logistics and consulting. He has been working as a mentor for start-up companies for 7 years, through the StartAp Academy, of which he is a co-founder since 2013. He currently owns a business in the field of transport and logistics.

Aleksandar Parishev

Aleksandar Parishev is a graduate economist at the Department of Foreign Trade. After graduation, he was employed in NLB Bank, in the Cash and Depot Department and in the Investment, Procurement and General Affairs Department. In 2018 he was hired as a demonstrator at the Department of Foreign Trade at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. Since 2020, he has been a collaborator in ZMAI.

Dushan Bosiljanov

Dushan Bosiljanov is a doctoral student in business law at the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus”. Dushan was also hired as a teaching and research associate at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” Skopje, Department of Commercial Law and Labor Law in the period 2013-2017. Currently works for one of the best start-up companies in Germany in the IT and catering industry. mainly deals with research and documentation of legal and tax requirements for various jurisdictions.

Igor Mojanoski

Igor Mojanoski is a legal researcher. In his engagement so far, he has worked as a lawyer in his own law office, and has work experience in project management and as a trainee. His narrower field of specialization is business law, in which he has obtained the title of Master of Laws.

Natasha Angjeleska

Natasha Angjeleska is a doctor of pedagogical sciences with many years of experience and involvement in programs and projects in education in the area of ​​professional development and education of teachers and support of the education of marginalized groups. She participated as an expert in working groups for the creation of strategic documents for education and youth. Natasha is a titled assistant professor at the American College in Skopje at the Department of Psychology, and currently works as a project manager at the Foundation for Educational and Cultural Initiatives “Step by Step”

Cane Mojanoski

Professor Dr. Cane Mojanoski is a professor at the Faculty of Security – Skopje in the subjects Research Methodology, Basics of Statistics, Sociology and Contemporary Sociological Theories.

Petar Jolakoski

Petar Jolakoski He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Skopje in 2019. In the same year he enrolled in postgraduate studies in the field of Statistics at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje and was elected a demonstrator at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Advanced data analysis and research in the field of network theory is currently underway.

Anastazija Paneva-Pisareva-Nikolikj

Graduate anthropologist, civil activist, and researcher in the areas of good governance, governance, and development of democracy. She has been working in the civil society sector for more than 20 years on topics related to financial and project sustainability and independence of organizations, as well as organizing internal and technical procedures within civil society organizations. In January 2023, she joined the ZMAI team.

Marija Pacaroska Stojkovikj

Marija Pacaroska Stojkovikj has studied at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, at the Department of Pedagogy. She has professional experience in the field of marketing, research and business administration gained in several IT companies and the research agency IPSOS. In 2021 she joins ZMAI as a project assistant.

Marija Radeska Gjukikj

Marija Radeska Gjukikj, Data Analyst at ZMAI, bringing years of experience in medicine, the environment, and NGOs. With a degree in Forestry Engineering, she focuses on gathering and organizing data. Marija also participates in surveys and focus groups to help improve projects.
